About Asian Tea House

Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.
The business lists hours on 6 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 11 amβ10 pm. It is closed on Monday. Rensselaer is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Rensselaer is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

This was our first time ordering. Got 2 combo platters and an order of crab ragoon. No taste on the ragoons. I requested beef on one of our combo platters and got chicken. Lo mein was dry, pork fried rice was too and had very little pork. Egg rolls were good but thatβs about it.

Ken the bartender/owner is amazing! Very personable great guy! You feel very welcome every single time you come in. Great atmosphere, great very affordable food. The drinks are cheap and they for sure get the job done haha π I highly recommend anyone to go here, you wonβt regret it!

Skip this place. Youβre better off going to a chain restaurant. On Sunday, Placed a to-go order for the family just the classic Chinese dishes (two General tso and beef lo mein) and two sushi rolls. Arrived at the time the order was supposed to be ready, 25-30 mins. My order wasnβt ready, ok thatβs fine. I waited another 30 minutes (not fine, nor cool) at the restaurant before my order finally came out. When I first got there the owner said it would be right out. If I knew it was going to be that long of a wait time and the food be that repulsive, I would have left. Now the food, probably some of the worst Chinese Iβve had. The rice was stale, the general tso was hard (like the chicken was even hard) it tasted like it had been recooked multiple times. The sushi stale and old and had liquid oozing from it. The building is dirty and dingy. $98 for old reheated stale Chinese food that was so gross we tossed it. I remember this place being so good years ago and always busy. I decided to stop there while visiting family in the area. No wonder the building was empty.

I am in the Albany Sushi Meetup Group. We have group dinners at the Tea House at least twice a year. It has become one of the favorite locations of the group. Kenny and Yana put out a very wonderful spread. One of our members moved to South Carolina and whenever she comes into town, she makes it a point to go to the Tea House just for their hot and sour soup which, in my opinion, is the best in the area. This place is definitely worth five stars.

I recently attended a sushi event at this restaurant, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Although it was my first time there, I definitely plan to return. The flavors were well-balanced, the sushi was prepared well, and the service was attentive. On a side note, they also served the best version of sweet and sour soup Iβve ever had.
